As I was walking through Wal-Mart the other day looking for a book to buy, I came across The Shack. I have heard several people say they loved the book and that they couldn't put it down once they started reading it. As a result, I bought it. I must admit...I'm 112 pages into the book and I'm not sure I like it. The plot seems a little slow to me and to be honest, a little strange.

For those of you that have read the book and loved it, am I missing something??

I have not read it myself, but I have had many friends tell me that it's incredible. From what I hear, it is a little strange, but mainly because it forces us to reconsider our stereotypes of God in a good way. That's all I know.

As Jennifer noted, I enjoyed it. It was really hard to get through the beginning, but I felt like it paid off in the end. I know some folks who think its the best book ever (I definitely wouldn't go that far). I also know folks who thought it was either heretical or cliche (and at times it might be). I think it is a good book written by an author who has wrestled with God after the loss of a loved one. I like the emphasis on relationship and the questioning of stereotypical images of God. If you want to know more, I blogged about it a few months ago. www.revrigoulot.blogspot.com.
